Testimonials

“I feel the main lesson Systema is teaching me is the continuity between mental and physical life. My interpretation is that Systema addresses a more general problem than combat: that is, how to overcome psychological inhibitions to freedom of movement and (maybe another way of putting the same thing) sensitivity to others.
The absence of hierarchy in Systema also makes an impression on me. There is no ā€œinstitutionalised arroganceā€: every student is just a student, whether a professional wrestler or computer programmer, and even the importance of the distinction between the instructor and student is fairly muted. I have little background and no special aptitude, but the experienced and capable students are happy to work with me and I’ve always been treated very respectfully. This is the best education for dealing with one’s excessive pride, which is a chief impediment to development in martial arts and more generally. “

Neil D. on Systema

“The seminar or extended training as Uldis called it was especially useful to me as a beginner in systema. It helped me progress in many areas of systema, which are key in achieving a certain level of relaxation, smooth movement and accurate striking in a short period of time. On top of that, all the attendees were friendly systema practitioners who were patient and helpful with a beginner like me!”

“Sorry I had to disappear off at the end of the seminar. I just wanted to say thanks for organising it, and to let you know that I enjoyed it.
I hope that you were able to take positives away from the weekend – I’m sure everyone who attended did.
I for one would be interested in learning a bit more about the health side of systema that we did at the end.”
